Description:
Its increasing ubiquity in workplaces and requests by employees to use these devices to access corporate data is making employee provisioned smartphones and tablets a front of mind issue for the vast majority of enterprises today.
CIOs, however, are beginning to move beyond a defensive approach to the BYOD issue, taking them from simple Mobile Device Management (MDM) strategies, and into a more developed view of how the employee-provisioned device estate can be exploited with specific applications. MDM solution vendors are evolving their offerings, too, with increasing emphasis on Enterprise Managed Mobility
.
But just as central IT is moving towards an application-level view of BYOD management, so we are seeing native application stores on smartphones becoming increasingly powerful ways for employees to discover, select and trial their own portfolio of productivity-related applications in the workplace. As these platforms make their way into the workplace, so these app stores are becoming a key marketing channel for SaaS players, and competition for the suite of legacy and largely non-mobilized applications provided by the IT department.
This event from Ovum will present our latest research into both the supply side and demand side of the BYOx effect, as well as best practice vendor selection, governance and implementation strategies for the enterprise.
