Andreas: I am Andreas Jakl, the founder of “Mopius” and I'm currently developing NFC and location-based apps. Additionally, i also provide developer training for Windows Phone, Qt and Asha. In the past I've worked at Nokia and taught at the University in Hagenberg.
Bernhard: I'm Bernhard Aufreiter, an independent mobile software engineer. I've published more than fifteen apps in several app stores, totaling over a million downloads and am always on the hunt for new projects and business opportunities.
Tell us a little about "NearSpeak", which you entered for the Lumia Geek Challenge
With NearSpeak you can record voice messages and store them on Near Field Communication (NFC) tags. Leave a message for your partner, a reminder for yourself, create a public social experiment or professional multi-language tags for an exhibition!
As an optional premium feature, NearSpeak automatically translates your messages to always play in the user’s language....
My name is Wai Seto. I work in the Nokia Developer Relations team as technical marketing manager and have been in this role since 2008. Before that, I was a Nokia Technical Expert and Software Architect in the games division.
My name is Janaina Pilomia - more marketing than technical if you compare me to Seto, although I did some programming in my early days. This is my fourth WIPJam @ MWC, and I’m super excited about it!
What do you do at Nokia?
Seto: In my current role, I communicate our latest developer tools and programs to our developers who are interested in working with Nokia. My current technology focus is Mobile Web, HERE JavaScript API, and Series 40 web apps development.
Janaina: I support our local teams in their events and the many other developer outreach activities they do.
Thanks for joining us, Kenny. Nokia made a couple new announcements at BUILD. Let's start with the NAX. What is that about?
NAX is a new way to quickly and easily monetise your apps with in-app advertising. It provides you with access to more than 120 advertising networks around the world with a single SDK.
NAX campaigns can take the form of banners, full-screen ads, text, or hyper-local ads. NAX works to ensure that only relevant ads are delivered to your apps, maximising the revenue you receive. This means your users are more likely to see content they’re interested in – and to click on the ad.
NAX also gives you advanced tools for tracking progress of your ad campaigns. A campaign dashboard...
When I laid out the invites for mobile media personalities I wanted to invite to write MWC preview posts for us, Rafe Blandford from All About Symbian was at the top of my list. Not because he's a great friend of mine, but because this is such an interesting time for the Symbian/Nokia world and I knew that Rafe -- as always -- would have some great insight to share. Needless to say, he didn't disappoint!
WIP: Hi, tell us a little bit about yourself and your site.
RB: I'm Rafe Blandford, I'm the founder and editor of All About Symbian and All About MeeGo. These are sites which provide news and analysis to a consumer and developer audience about the respective mobile platforms. In practise this means closely following what Nokia is doing in the mobile industry. While do aim to be as comprehensive as possible, our primary concern is to provide well informed and high quality content.
WIP: What are the big stories you'll be watching for this year at MWC?
Download the WIP Survival Guide to Mobile World Congress or even better get the mobile app version with the WIPJam app for Android, Nokia and iPhone (visit your favourite store in the coming days and look for WIPJam)

You will be excused for not knowing what the Eclipse mobile Pluginfest is and that it happened in the first place... But you will not be excused next time for having missed this historical moment of mobile development tool's history : 2007 the first mobile pluginfest..
Throw yourself back in 2007! I know it's kind of hard so I'll paint a quick portrait of the days, Symbian is the most innovative and widespread mobile OS on the planet, WindRiver and IBM are 2 different companies, J2ME is still an important part of Mobile development (even though the Mobile Tools for Java project is struggling a bit), Doug Gaff was still at WindRiver, Doug Schaefer still at QNX, Christian Kurzke still at Motorola, Lars Kurth and I still at Symbian. The only sign of stability in this world is Ian Skerrett who's still heading marketing at Eclipse Foundation and should be thanked for his efforts to get the pluginfest sparkle back!
Back in 2007 we (as in the team of people named above) realized...
Note: We are making some changes to the WIP App Store Catalog, and the monthly App Store Report, based on feedback from our community members to make it even more useful and accurate. Be sure to stay tuned for the January report to see the changes, and leave any of your thoughts or feedback in the comments below.
This monthly report is available in PDF format, and is based on the entries from the WIP App Store Catalog (http://www.wipconnector.com/appstores), the leading resource listing app stores for mobile developers.
In the early days of the app store phenomenon, most attention was focused on the degree to which the stores solve the distribution problem for mobile developers. Gone (supposedly) were the days when simply getting your application out to end users was a major challenge, as app stores made it easy for nearly anybody to make their app available to the masses. This led to another significant challenge, one that’s still a big problem for many developers...
Simon Lucas from Enough Software won a ticket for Nokia's annual developer conference Nokia Developer Summit (Thanks to Nokia!).
As a Thank you note he proposed to share his thoughts about the summit!, and especially on the stream he attended dedicated to Qt development and development in Qt :D
Seat down and go through the content of the 2 days of conference seating comfortably in front of your computer!
Nokia Developer Summit 2010 – Technical Stream 1: Qt SDK
“Nokia is back” was the message Nokia spread at the opening key notes of the Nokia World and Nokia Developer Summit (NDS) 2010 in London. But this statement not only referred to the new devices Nokia introduced to the public in the last couple of months and of course the brand new ones they presented here at the Nokia World. A big deal of this statement also referred to Nokia's new Qt SDK which Nokia branded under a well known credo only put in different words: “Code less, create more, deploy anywhere”.
