Carnival of Mobilists #213

Posted by Caroline on 01 March 2010 - 0 Comments Categories : NewsCarnival of the Mobilists

Welcome to Carnival #213!  For those new to the Carnival, the intent is a weekly showcase of the best blogs on all things mobile.  It is open to anyone to submit your blog – find out more here.

A bit of a slow week I think, as those of us recover from Mobile World Congress and for us here in Vancouver – Olympic GOLD Fever!  I was glued to the tv watching the finals for curling and hockey; and spent some time downtown amongst the throngs of visitors from all over the world.  Forgive my enthusiasm for posting a few extra Carnival type photos – thanks to my good friend Bill Lee from ACCESS for the pics!

Hockey Gold Carnival! Hockey Gold Carnival 2

Someone who seemed to be with no shortage of words however, is Volker Hirsch, who managed to crank out two blogs!  Volker always adds big value, so both are included as must reads:

The Joy and Cost of Freemium , provides a great insight into how premium is working in the mobile space, particularly with in-app micro payments.

- Web v Mobile Web v Apps..  Or Not? Gives a good debate and starts with some important questions, all of which must first be answered from the point of view of the user.

Antoine RJ Wright is one of our great mobile bloggers who consistently comes out with posts that really make you think.  It has been ‘truth’ for some time that software does sell hardware – what does that mean for our mobile devices?  Check out his post on ‘Becoming the Jetsons’. and find out if you have a Rosie ?!

Andy Favell and the folks at Mobi Thinking, bless their hearts, had an Olympic theme that used a number of sources to find out if mobile search is working  and it would appear the verdict is….. not quite yet.

Ajit Jaokar has a new on-line book out that he would like us to review, with the new free pdf download on   Open Mobile: Understanding the Impact of Open Mobile - Implications for Telecoms/Devices, Web, Social Networks, Media and Personal Privacy.

And finally the always prolific Tomi T Ahonen receives our ‘blog of the week’ with his post on Google’s Mobile First.  pronouncements.  He comments on how the Internet Changed Everything – not…..  And if you thought the internet was important - then mobile this decade will become far more important.

Note:  WIP has consolidated all of our websites down to just one – the WIPConnector.  It now includes our blog, WIPJam information, Developer Resources and even more soon.  Please redirect any links you have here.  Thanks!
