MobileIron Enterprise App Store

Tags:
android, iphone, blackberry, MobileIron

Parent Company:

MobileIron

Overview:

Traditionally, the only delivery mechanism enterprise IT has had for mobile apps is “push” i.e. force-install an app on an employee’s smartphone.  However, the consumer world has taught us that publishing apps and letting the user choose is a powerful model that also has a place inside the enterprise.  Changing the enterprise mobile app delivery model from “push” to “publish” is one of the values of the MobileIron smartphone management platform.  IT departments can now publish either internally-developed or externally-available mobile apps to their employees, allowing the employees to then self-provision the apps that are most appropriate for their work.  MobileIron supports BlackBerry, iPhone, Windows Mobile, and Symbian, with Android under development.  MobileIron complements existing consumer app stores.  MobileIron provides a repository for internal enterprise apps and a policy layer to present employees with approved applications which can be provisioned through other app stores if that is where they reside.
