Web Device Connectivity

Connected devices, such as connected TV, media players, and photo frames, are becoming increasingly popular. Currently, however, you can’t easily interact with those devices via arbitrary web applications and a web browser. The lack of an intermediate enabler that connects web applications and devices, for example, means it is not easy to deliver a video from a web application to a TV.

The Web Device Connectivity API makes it easier to develop web applications that enable such new web experiences. It allows visitors to your website to see what connected devices they have at home and enables them to access those devices through your web application.

Currently, only DLNA/UPnP standard devices can be accessed via our API.
