The Sprint network offers a seamless way to obtain a Sprint device’s location using applications on a wide variety of platforms from handhelds to servers and from web pages to desktop applications.

There are two basic types of location fixes: approximate fixes and precise fixes. Both types of fixes can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Precision Fix : Based on network cell tower triangulation and/or handset GPS.

Accuracy: within 50 meters when device has GPS reception (usually outdoors / in vehicle)
Latency: Fix may take up to 40 seconds, dependent upon GPS reception quality.
Network Compatibility: 3G and iDEN

Approximate Fix : Based on closest cell tower lat, long position.
Accuracy: Varies based upon how close Sprint cell towers are to each other (urban areas, accuracy is within 1 mile and in rural areas is within 15 miles)
Latency: Fix takes about 5 seconds
Network Compatibility: 3G, iDEN 4G
